Fifty years ago, even ten years ago it was not typical to attack someone’s personal character because of their opinion. Topics were debated and were not dealt with harshly. In a world full of social media, I see people having their character attacked because of their opinion on a given topic. In today’s society we have almost completely lost the art of debate outside of the realm of academia because most arguments today that people propose are straw man arguments. But because they are not strong opinions; they get offended when someone tears their logic to shreds. I hope this post gets debated, and a great discussion comes out of it.
